Cobb County is celebrating a significant achievement as two of its Department of Transportation (DOT) engineers, Karyn Matthews and Ligia Florim, have been recognized among the “100 Most Influential Women in Georgia Engineering” by Engineering Georgia magazine.

Karyn Matthews, who has been with Cobb DOT since 2013, is recognized for her impactful work on projects like the Windy Hill/Terrell Mill connector. She has a background in physics from Emory and has been involved in several award-winning designs. Ligia Florim is noted for her collaborative efforts on complex projects such as the Mableton Parkway Pedestrian Improvements and the Chattahoochee Trail. Florim’s approach to engineering focuses on serving others and resolving issues that directly impact the county’s transportation system.
